East Molesey is located in north Surrey on the south side of the River Thames.

The town's shops and restaurants are split 60%:40% across two areas - the "town" part centred around Walton Road, and an area near the Thames close to Hampton Court Bridge around half a mile to the north-west.

On the north side of Hampton Court Bridge, over the border into the London Borough of Richmond, is Hampton Court Palace (see aerial photographs).

Adjacent to the south side of the bridge is Hampton Court Railway station, a terminus station with services to London Waterloo. The M3 can be accessed at Junction 1 (Sunbury) to the north-west (see maps).
